Kitasenju over in east Tokyo is one of my favorite places in the city to shoot. The kids in this part of town are different than those in Setagaya and other parts of west Tokyo. They’ll come up to you and start talking like you’ve been friends for years.
Four rolls through a Leica over 2 hours is a fine way to spend an afternoon. The community felt here on these back streets is always enjoyable and to be able to walk into a park full of parents and kids with two cameras around your neck and freely photograph is something that may be easy to take for granted, I think. All anyone says is “Thank you”.
The train ride home also made for a good picture as well.
