Nikon show #2
For the past week I had been expecting a letter from Nikon about the photos I submitted for their latest call for entries.
Expected a thin “thank you” envelope but got the thicker “here are the dates for your shows in Tokyo and Osaka” one instead.
Now that’s two exhibitions to prepare for over the next few months. (note: This is Great)
For those who might not be familiar with how photographs are exhibited in Japan, most camera and “imaging” companies run respected galleries in Tokyo. Of all the dedicated Photographic galleries in this town, they are rare in that work is submitted to a jury, and then allowed to be shown. The other route is to have the connections for gallery representation in the upper strata of the High Art World, or (and this is more common) spend anywhere from 800 to 1500+ dollars to exhibit your work for 6 days at a rental gallery.
Now to figure out where and how I am going to get some of my prints printed on A0 paper for this show. The mock-up plan I submitted was easy enough to make, but getting the real thing constructed is going to be interesting.

Unlike Konica Minolta, the Nikon gallery allows for opening receptions that involve food and drink. Let’s do that.
