It’s been almost a week without internet or itunes or blogging or scanning and it is nicer than you might think. I did buy that new Stephen Shore book by Phaidon, and it shore is good. Fantastic.
パソコンはまだ具合は悪くて、まったく使えません。 アパートは静かな・・・
久しぶりテレビを見た。水曜日はあぶちゃんの日だ。

FIRST: Shut down my Mac (G4 powerbook) and left for the day. It had not been actually Shut Down for a long, long time.
LATER: Came home that night, and powered it back up. The apple chime sounded and a grey apple logo on a grey background came on. And stayed on. And on and on. Nick suggested some things (restarting and holding down shift, then P&R and other buttons) and taking out the battery did nothing to fix it. Went to bed.
NEXT DAY: It did not magically heal itself overnight. Or again after I came back home last night. No internet, no scanner, no music. . . so…. quiet. (Looked at photography books and sorted prints)
TODAY: No internet at home again- watched TV & listened to Nihongo. Attractive people ate delicious looking food and said it was in fact, delicious.
TOMORROW: Take the damn powerbook to the apple store in Ginza?
Who knowz? Returning that close to the AOZO complex in Marunouchi will no doubt result in me spending 5000 yen on that beautiful Stephen Shore book by Phaidon.
UNTIL THEN: Updates are rare and email checked at work. (where this was written shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh)

The rest are after the first 8 pictures here. Still not that sure about any of them, particularly in that grouping. It seems like they are proof of a regression back to something. Or maybe it’s how heavy-handedly Japanese they all are.
Regardless, the prints look much better than what is online.
–Still recovering from a “Miss your friend’s wedding party” kind of cold. (sorry Noriko!) Against all odds and the daily, hourly requests by co-workers and society as a whole to “Be careful not to catch a cold”, I did.
–I like everything about the photographs by Ali Bosworth. EVERYTHING. ( Rachel, you will like them too.)
– Justin just keeps on making beautiful pictures.
– Mark has a new site, great photos , and a kickin’ tumblr .
– From 9am to noon I was in my darkroom making 40 New Prints and once dry enough to scan, they will soon be up here. Probably.
– I started and finished Donald Richie’s “A Tractate on Japanese Asthetics”. It is one to own- and the first of what is going to be many readings only took about half an hour. More thoughts on this book soon.
