nengajyo out-takes (will work for food)

Once a year I shoot a family’s new year card photo and even though I (would) do it for free, they pay me by way of a large home-cooked meal. After all the “real” photography* was done we horsed around some and the daughters posed serious-like for me. Interestingly enough the mood these photos might convey was not at all how we were that afternoon**.
Take that, perceived photographic truth!
*Film based. They kept the sx-70 shots and the 6×7 prints will be picked up tomorrow.
** The shot of the entire family in mid-air as they jumped after I asked was pretty awesome. But it won’t be here anytime soon.
I was always wondering…what is sx-70?
I’ve been studying little by little about photos in my spare time..

SX-70 cameras are (were) folding contraptions of absolute beauty, and they also took film (eventually, after SX-70 film was phased out) with the coolest name ever: Time-Zero.
(Although, personally, I like to add an X, so it’s Time-X-Zero, which sounds more like a super-math-hero.)
