It’s really interesting to be working with something for so long and seeing it come to fruition. Getting to see everything up on a wall at once let’s you make connections between pictures that were not previously known. This is something a little more difficult to do with a book and nearly impossible to do online.
That said, the offical information page on the show can be found here. Or on Tokyo Art Beat here.
At the same time in the gallery next to mine, Tomoe Kobayashi is exhibiting photographs and her work is amazing. You can see some small little internet pictures of her work here, but to really feel them they must be seen in person in the physical layout that she created.
If you are in the area, stop on by. I’ll probably see you there.

Once a year I shoot a family’s new year card photo and even though I (would) do it for free, they pay me by way of a large home-cooked meal. After all the “real” photography* was done we horsed around some and the daughters posed serious-like for me. Interestingly enough the mood these photos might convey was not at all how we were that afternoon**.
Take that, perceived photographic truth!
*Film based. They kept the sx-70 shots and the 6×7 prints will be picked up tomorrow.
** The shot of the entire family in mid-air as they jumped after I asked was pretty awesome. But it won’t be here anytime soon.

A: A large vinyl grocery bag full of undeveloped film rolls.
(Food would be the second possible answer)
Getting every last roll taken care of is something that happens about once a year. I’ve been shooting more medium format and am thinking that this is how it will be for a while. A stack of about 150 negative sheets is on my desk, mostly things from August to this past weekend. About 30 sheets in, there have been a few suprises that look to be worth printing. From now on I’ll be making contact sheets to assist with editing, this way saving on paper to be used for Real Prints instead of work prints. Like the ones in a huge stack on my dresser…
