For the “I can’t believe I got it for 1000 yen” file:

I’ve found that the Book Off in Harajuku gets the best photography books, but they get snapped up quickly; I found this copy of Shore’s book on the to-be-shelved cart and immediately realized it was worth taking 5 extra minutes to stop by the shop last night.

That brown package holds all 30 freshly matted prints for my show. Tomorrow after work I’ll take the prints and mats to the gallery in Shinjuku, and then I’ll take the 38,ooo yen that I owe for everything to the shop where I ordered the mats. Just like I did for my 2005 show, I got my mats done at Roonee. Roonee is a small gallery run by a young couple located in Yotsuya near Shinjuku. In addition to having a site for photographers to show work, they also help support the Photo gallery scene here in Tokyo with their photographic exhibiton / archival supply shop.
Next to the package behind my camera (for scale) are 120 6×7 contact sheets stacked up. I can’t believe it has taken me this long to make contact sheets again. They are a blast to look at and I imagine that I’ll save on paper in the long run by knowing well what to print, instead of going off the educated guess that a looking at a negative file with a light box gives. Sometimes a negative looks better than a print, and the result is a wasted sheet of paper.

From top left and then clockwise:
5×7 William Eggleston
I swapped a Peter Beard book with Jeff Ladd of 5B4 for this.
Do you know what I mean Juergen Teller
Most of the book is (fantastic) work shot in Japan. Near the end there is also interesting photo of Eggleston, and a glorious photo of Meg White.
Girls Blue Hiromix
Actually I think I bought this book more for the photos OF Hiromix than the photos BY Hiromix.
なぜこの本を買ったというんですけど、実は、Hiromixが撮った写真より、Hiromixが写ってるの写真見たかった。
Kyoto White Sentiment Nobuyoshi Araki
Araki put out about a book a month last year. Wouldn’t that be great?
今日かなちゃんからまた手紙もらったが今回グアムのキーホルダーもいただきました。あの絵はそっくりなー
