NUMBER 1
To those people who read this and are in Japan: Are you getting enough Grapefruit Coolish?
I know you are not because one can not. Billboard lady and I are down with this flavor of drinkable ice cream.
To those of you not in Japan: Coolish is a rock-hard frozen milkshake in a pouch that you knead with your hands to get into a drinkable state.
With Coolish you can say “I need ice cream!” and also mean “I knead ice cream” at the same time.
Last year’s Pear flavor was a little better than the Grapefruit kind for this summer, but unlike the Pear, Grapefruit is much easier to find.
NUMBER 2
MACK AKASAKA for whatever it is he is running for! He represents the Japan Smile Party! He jogs! He wears his leotards and stands on top of his van all the time in front of Shibuya Station with a microphone (connected to really loud speakers) and a smile !
Plus, he can tie a bowtie! WOW
From Nebraska, of some of the Japanese students who helped out with our jr. high school trip in Lincoln.

There is not much out there with the nuts and bolts aspects to putting up a photo exhibition online, with less about doing so in Tokyo in English. This month’s Phat Photo has all kinds of details about putting on an exhibition, in Japanese though.
An exhibition does not Just Happen. It takes work to get realized, and you will see some updates about how I am getting my show together from here until December.
This morning I took my portfolio to the local 7-11 and made a photocopy of each 11×14 workprint, shrunk down to 25% it’s original size. After work tonight I glued each little picture into a blank B5 size notebook. Next to each thumbnail image I wrote the negative file number, and then frame number. This way I have an easy reference manual for when I begin printing.
Now, the photocopying and gluing was the easiest part of all this. Looking through 1424 sheets of negatives (roughly 51,264 frames) for a mere 36 particular negatives was a little more difficult.
It is even harder when you don’t make contact prints(!) but having worked with my negs for 3 years now, I have a pretty good feel to what is where. They are loosely in chronological order and the fact that from early on I had made thumbnail sketches next to the good pictures on my To Print lists helped tonight. I still can’t find 3 frames, but they are in there somewhere, with quite a few more that had never caught my eye before. And so the To Print list grows.
Coming up next time: CUSTOM EASEL MASKING or dammit my choice of paper is a mere 3 cm wider than the widest my easel can go
