polaroid ten pack

After leaving the Leica service center I headed over to Bic Camera to pick up some 10×12 paper but could not because they were out of it AND the bulk fuji presto 400 rolls. Unlike the paper (for now), them rolls ain’t ever coming back to the shelves. But they did have 10 packs of Polaroid 600 film for 11,000 yen (a Mister Franklin) and it did not take long to justify spending the money despite the looming camera repair cost because my justification was this: “if you are going to have to spend that much money, what is another C-note?”. It worked!

Also, I have not shot polaroids in a long while which was the second part of my purchase reasoning. There is something so peculiar, so wonderful about a polaroid. It’s not simply because it is “instant”, but more because you get only one. Each picture that comes out of a polaroid camera is beautiful, and even the messed up ones still feel like a photograph. You treasure it by default.

Maybe a worse sound to hear

Took my camera in and got it checked out in Ginza today. What I heard though was something almost worse than the clatter of my Leica to the floor and that was hearing that the inside chassis became warped by the shock, and accurate focusing is not possible. But they can replace it (the frame, not the camera). For this much:

My first car, an ‘83 Ford Thunderbird cost the same amount that I will pay to get my camera working again; roughly the same cost as a decent used M6.

A Happy Weekend To You All !
