Today I called up Mike a new intern at my school and asked, since the weather was so nice, if he would like to go for a walk. We met up at 10:30am at the 7-11 near our apartments and walked an hour to Matsudo station. There we got on the train to Minami-senju and visited the execution grounds that now has a 3m tall stone jizo statue. You might have seen that statue in a newspaper before. Then we kept on walking. Here is a breakdown:
Minami-senju–> Nippori (had lunch at a chinese noodle shop that had some great tan-tan-men soup)–> Yananka –> Ueno park –> Yushima (large shrine there) –> Ochanomizu –> Suidobashi–> Iidabashi –> and Yotsuya. From Yotsuya we walked another 20 minutes to the south entrance of Shinjuku station, arriving at about 5:30pm. We made sure to cross the Yamanote line there to make it a complete walk from one side of that train line to the other. I do not know how many kilometers that was but my feet think it was a lot.
