kevin why you got to be like that?

So again Kevin proves his mad skillz in the friednship arena. I did not have a good day today for reasons that won’t be gotten into here, and the evening was topped off with embarassingly pathetic bout of loneliness- however once I checked my mail things were better. The best part of my day started at about 6:30pm with the discovery of a package in my mailbox, and the discovery of these two dvds in that box. I have talked about the film Arakimentari before. It is a mediocre film about a very interesting subject. Spike Jonze should have been the one to do this, not those hipster kids who include footage of them boozing with Araki during the ending credits.
When they were thinking up ideas I bet it was like:
“Ohh man, you know what would be totally wicked? If I like, was all moving the school’s camcorder around while Araki is photographing those naked chicks! It would all be like, matching his energy!”
“Yeah that’s Rad! Like Reality Tv! and then in between scenes I am gonna splice in some sped up suuuper grainy footage of people crossing streets of shinjuku at night! Whoa thats going to blow so many minds”
“Sweet! Like the travel channel does!”
But then Araki gets in front of the camera (or behind his own) and all is forgiven. It is something that you ought to see and something that I wanted to buy anyways. Don’t let my opinions sway you.
I have not see Gunner’s Palace yet, but I watched the trailers online many a time. Thinking that this will be a good film to watch in my school’s screening room with some other teachers. Arakimentari will not be showing up on school property ever. But I am glad I have it to show to photographer friends who have not seen it yet.
Thank you Kevin. You did it again. I don’t know what it was before* but your awesomeness inspires.
*Actually I do remember– something about a rude clerk in shibuya and a shelf of overpriced skater t-shirts on the floor in a row from the cash register to the door. And poor Makiko being the last one to leave and not knowing what had just happened. Ha Ha Ha
hey man, thanks for letting me crash on your floor this summer! i still owe you. oh, and i am not really sorry about what i did in the store. i am just sorry that i embarrassed you all. oops!

No man that guy had it coming. Debito would be pissed with you though. Unless the Japanese clerk got mad at you and then he would be all like whipping out his (gold plated?) Japanese passport and write a book about the “Shibuya clerk 3000 yen credit card limit refusals” and write more articles in the Japan Times. Like he did today. Remember on his site how he peeled those “Japanese Only” signs off doors of nasty little fillipina hostess bars up in Hokkaido? Damn that makes me forget all about MLK when he looks out for civil rights like that. Debito is pissed about everything but at least he makes a big scene about himself to feel better about it.
You are welcome to sleep on my floor anytime. Or the couch that Nigel sold me with a desk when he left Japan for more yen than it was worth- the same couch that I was later told that he was given for free anyways. Yaay!
Oh yeah, did you like the Araki movie? Did you make sure your parents were out when you watched it?
