The email began like this:

I was on the receiving end of a group email from Jun Itoi announcing the birth of his daughter. Rona will be one of the lucky ones, a dwindling group of people whose baby photos were taken with FILM of all things. I wonder how many children will lose segments of their photographic records due to things like faulty memory cards or mothers’ cell phones that fall into toliets..
She will also be one of the few who whose baby album will contain shots of her youth taken by her father and his 8×10 (バイテン)view camera.
By the way, Jun is having a photo exhibiton in Shinagawa soon. It is titled “Nostos Algos”.
Saishunkan Gallery Tokyo
4-10-58 Takanawa, Shinagawa, Tokyo TEL:03.3444.4444
Please follow the directions in the above website to get to the gallery.
Open everyday during the exhibition period 12:00 - 18:00
I miss so much being out here in the country. Jun’s show looks really interesting; wish I could attend. I’ll have to content myself with his website once the exhibition is posted there.

“mothers’ cell phones that fall into toliets..” It’s been known to happen. Now she keeps in her front pocket.

Thanks for the thought, John - and thanks for the comments, marka, and mheqqe. It’s been hectic to have an opening, and exhibition, which an artist should sit down in the gallery for the whole time of exhibiting time (- and have a baby with only a week and half old). To make it extreme (worse to my wallet, maybe), I decided to get a super 8 instead of a digicamcorder to record my daughter’s day by day changes. Damn. I’ve never used the format, but will let you know how it goes.
