I was on the receiving end of a group email from Jun Itoi announcing the birth of his daughter. Rona will be one of the lucky ones, a dwindling group of people whose baby photos were taken with FILM of all things. I wonder how many children will lose segments of their photographic records due to things like faulty memory cards or mothers’ cell phones that fall into toliets..
She will also be one of the few who whose baby album will contain shots of her youth taken by her father and his 8×10 （バイテン）view camera.

By the way, Jun is having a photo exhibiton in Shinagawa soon. It is titled “Nostos Algos”.

昨日貴子さんと下北沢で広島焼き食べた。　写真撮った。

今朝、貴子からメールもらった。　月曜日にあった大阪の電車事故でいとこが死んでしまいました・・・

Last night my friend Takako and I had okonomiyaki in Shimokitazawa. I took her picture.

This morning she emailed me and said that she had found out that her cousin was among those killed in the recent train wreck near Osaka this past week… He was recently married and has a child on the way.

That is all I can write about this.
