I was trying to think of something good to write about it but I think that Kevin said it best: “john is a nerd. he deserves every bit of this punch.”
I may be a nerd Kevin, but– which one of us has to go back to Nebraska in the middle of winter in like 2 months? Ohhh snap. But I did deserve the punch. And those other ones too.
I have been asked many different questions by friends here in Japan- questions that help determine who you are- for example, are you a Mountain or Ocean kind of person? (Mountain) What is your Blood Type? (-O) OR sometimes I am asked if I am “S” or “M”.
Seeing as how I keep hurting myself with trips to my hometown newspaper’s website: in particular, the letters to the editor page- I must be an “M”.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who recognized a great deal of hypocrisy on Veterans Day.
The Nov. 11 Lincoln Journal Star ran a front-page picture of one of our brave servicemen in Iraq. He had a cigarette in his mouth. “CBS Evening News” showed another young serviceman with a cigarette. He had sweat, cuts and blood on his face.
Our brave troops who return to Lincoln will not be able to gather with buddies and friends at a local bar to relax and talk, if they smoke.
They won’t even be able to go to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or the Disabled American Veterans clubs. Smoking does in many cases reduce pain.
It seems cruel way to honor servicemen and veterans.

YEAH! !
Depsite it looking like this journal-thing has become some photographic and daily documentation of my person, I am really not that self-absorbed in my own image. Honest. But once again I offer two more grainy photos that by my own hand, have me appearing in them. As you have probably guessed by now, I got my hair cut last night. And the stylist, as always, made it a pleasant experience.
Speaking of hair stylists, I was talking to one in Nebraska last spring who had worked at a SuperCuts in the local wal-mart. I guessed (correctly!) that there had to be some guys who wanted mullets but I did not know how they would ask for one. She told me they all said (vaguely threatened) the same thing: “I wan’ it Short on Top, an’ Don’t Touch the Back”.
