I have been asked many different questions by friends here in Japan- questions that help determine who you are- for example, are you a Mountain or Ocean kind of person? (Mountain) What is your Blood Type? (-O) OR sometimes I am asked if I am "S" or "M".
Seeing as how I keep hurting myself with trips to my hometown newspaper's website: in particular, the letters to the editor page- I must be an "M".
here is a prime example of brilliance in response to Lincoln's recent smoking ban:
I'm sure I'm not the only one who recognized a great deal of hypocrisy on Veterans Day.
The Nov. 11 Lincoln Journal Star ran a front-page picture of one of our brave servicemen in Iraq. He had a cigarette in his mouth. "CBS Evening News" showed another young serviceman with a cigarette. He had sweat, cuts and blood on his face.
Our brave troops who return to Lincoln will not be able to gather with buddies and friends at a local bar to relax and talk, if they smoke.
They won't even be able to go to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or the Disabled American Veterans clubs. Smoking does in many cases reduce pain.
It seems cruel way to honor servicemen and veterans.
Donald L. Deal, Lincoln
